Take in the Delights of Downtown Orlando During Your Stay

Orlando Skyline at night 400k

Ensconced in the starry embrace of The Celeste Hotel, offering premier upscale hospitality on the University of Central Florida campus in East Orlando, you’ll find yourself within shouting distance of the City Beautiful’s attraction-packed downtown.

Indeed, Downtown Orlando is a no-brainer sightseeing, dining, entertainment, and even recreational destination for any and all of our Celeste guests. Use our Tribute Portfolio hotel as a springboard for exploring the happening and hopping center of one of Florida’s defining cities!

Things to Do & See in Downtown Orlando, FL

Anchored by the City and Parramore districts, and adjacent to the Thornton Park and West Lakes Market Street districts, Downtown Orlando and the Central Business District are an easy jaunt west of The Celeste Hotel, with a little something for everybody on offer.

You’ll find multiple standout performance venues here, not least the multiple theaters of the Dr. Phillips Center for the Performing Arts (445 S. Magnolia Ave), which hosts everything from the Orlando Ballet to Broadway shows, live comedy, and rock concerts. Upcoming events at the Dr. Phillips Center include comedian and SNL star Colin Jost on August 26th, the Orlando Urban Film Festival 10th Anniversary Awards on September 2nd, Nick Carter on October 15th, and the beloved musical Annie October 24th through the 29th.

And then there’s the Amway Center (400 W. Church St), another go-to for live entertainment in Downtown Orlando. Catch Disney on Ice Presents Magic in the Stars (September 1st through the 3rd), Thomas Rhett (September 16th), the Orlando Salsa Festival (September 22nd), or Depeche Mode (October 10th). The Amway Center also plays host to big-time sports spectacles courtesy of the Orlando Magic and other teams.

For gut-busting laughs (and comedy tutelage), meantime, steer your way to the improv shrine of SAK Comedy Club (29 S. Orange Ave), where such legends as Wayne Brady cut their teeth.

You can also go museum-hopping in Downtown Orlando, host to such fine institutions as the Wells’Built Museum of African American History & Culture (511 W. South St) and CityArts (39 S. Magnolia St), which maintains contemporary-art galleries within the 1886-built, Queen Anne-style Rogers-Kierne building.

Biking and jogging on the Orlando Urban Trail, wiling away some quality time in an iconic swan paddleboat on Lake Eola, digging into the city’s architectural heritage on the self-guided Orlando Historic District Walking Tour, catching a soccer match at Exploria Stadium: There’s much else on tap in Downtown Orlando, and we haven’t even covered all of the dining and shopping!
