The Orlando area showcases lovely subtropical greenspaces, and with Tribute Portfolio accommodations at The Celeste you’ll have them at your fingertips. One of the best-loved is the downtown’s Lake Eola Park, just minutes from our East Orlando hotel on the University of Central Florida campus.
Lake Eola Park in Downtown Orlando
Lake Eola’s charms have been delighting Orlando residents and visitors for well more than a century. This postcard-perfect sinkhole lake originally lay on the property of Jacob Summerlin, Florida’s “Cattle King”; the Summerlins donated the lakeshore to the public in 1883, and five years later it became a city park.
It’s a great place for year-round R&R, backdropped by the downtown skyline and within shouting distance of a slew of restaurants. There’s a paved walkway encircling the lake, which comes plied by a variety of different types of swans: trumpeters, mute swans, and black-necked swans among them. Speaking of swans, a classic Lake Eola pastime is renting a paddleboat shaped like the graceful waterfowl: highly recommended!
You can also catch a show or a film at the Walt Disney Amphitheater, or admire other park landmarks such as the Shanghai-built Chinese Ting, the Eola House, the rock garden, and multiple fountains. You’ll also find a moving monument to the Battle of the Bulge here.
It’s also worth noting Lake Eola Park hosts many events throughout the year. And shop like a local at the Orlando Farmers Market each Sunday.
