With boutique luxury accommodations at The Celeste Hotel on the University of Central Florida campus, you’ll find yourself in prime position to enjoy all of Greater Orlando’s many and varied attractions: from theme parks and entertainment venues to outdoor recreation and historical sightseeing.
Among the jewels of this hub of Central Florida is Winter Park, less than 10 miles away from our Tribute Portfolio hotel and offering a little something for everybody
Winter Park Attractions
Incorporated in 1887, Winter Park lies along one of the Orlando area’s standout physical features: the Winter Park Chain of Lakes, a canal-strung network of waterways with beautiful homes and gardens woven into the corridor. A guided boat tour along the Chain of Lakes ranks among the foremost activities in this verdant gem of a city.
Another artery here is Park Avenue, loaded with restaurants, bars, cafes, boutiques, and shops: a premier Greater Orlando destination for dining and shopping. It’s also host to one of Winter Park’s numerous museums: the Charles Hosmer Morse Museum of Art, famed for boasting the greatest collection of Tiffany pieces in the world.
That’s not only the artistic treasure in Winter Park: The city also harbors the Albin Polasek Museum & Sculpture Garden on Lake Osceola, spotlighting the works of the famed Czech-American sculptor, and the Rollins Museum of Art, whose 5,000-plus-strong collection includes the only European Old Master paintings viewable in Greater Orlando.
You’ll also find multiple performing-arts venues in town, among them the National Register of Historic Places-listed Annie Russell Theatre—the oldest continually operating theater in the Sunshine State, in fact—and the Blue Bamboo Center for the Arts, with upcoming shows including Brian Smalley (June 9th), Cortez & Koelbe (June 10th), the Suzy Park Quarter (June 17th), and Ella & the Bossa Beat (June 24th).
Speaking of performances, Winter Park’s the lucky home of its very own Bach Festival Society, helmed by director and conductor John V. Sinclair, housed on the Rollins College campus, and presenting programs throughout the year.
And we can’t not mention the nine-hole, 35-par Winter Park Golf Course, established in 1914 (one of many great Orlando-area golf courses within easy reach of your Celeste Hotel room or suite).
We’re merely sampling the pleasures of Winter Park; there’s plenty more to explore, as you’ll see browsing here.
